WebMCP is an emerging browser API for exposing visible website functionality as structured tools. It complements the human interface and backend integrations instead of replacing them.
What WebMCP changes
Traditional browser agents inspect a page and simulate clicks. WebMCP lets the page describe a tool with a name, purpose, input schema, and execution function. A compatible browser agent can discover and invoke that tool through a browser mediated workflow.
How Lensor uses it
Lensor progressively registers a public website audit tool when the browser supports WebMCP. The tool accepts a website address, reuses the same audit logic as the visible form, and displays the result in the current page. Browsers without WebMCP continue to use the normal interface.
Important limits
WebMCP remains an evolving draft and is designed for browser based workflows with a person present. It does not replace backend MCP servers, authorization, audit logs, or confirmation for consequential actions.
